I tried to summarize and be as clear as possible. This is one of the least understood disorders in the Mental Health community, it was a duty to explain what it is from a perspective without stigma. there are still many things to talk about NPD, I will definitely make a post about the causes. if you have any questions I'm completely available to answer! #MentalHealth #personalitydisorder #narcissisticpersonalitydisorder #npd #npdawareness

🇬🇧/🇺🇸: I felt the need to make this video, especially since I started creating spoken videos that reach an Italian audience. Here in Italy, the approach to this disorder is very rigid and hard to change; indeed many interpret my videos in the worst possible way, but others confirm that the message I want to convey comes across clearly. So, I hope this video helps people understand how best to listen to my content. #psychology #narcissist #contentcreator #npd #personalitydisorders

this is my first animation ever, I tried to be as general as possible to represent the majority of narcissists, but everyone has a different life so I couldn't make it universal. 🔴 the point is: NPD doesn't have a gentle development, like any other personality disorder. What is universal in this development is conditional love, systematic emotional neglect and covert or overt humiliation during our childhood (many narcissists endured other types of abuse too). We were punished and so forced to repress our emotions in order to not appear "weak" (= emotional) while reinforcing our skills/talents/knowledge worthy of admiration (at least for our caregivers and environment). 🔶 We were put on a pedestal as long as we matched with the external expectations. We were the best child until we expressed our true Self (authentic identity) and needs, suddenly the pedestal collapsed and we became the worst child. - So we started to seek admiration by proving ourselves and suppress our True Self in order to reach again that fake pedestal and escape from abuse and neglect. 🔸Now our self-esteem swings at the same way: we received admiration? We feel superior, better than everybody else and unattackable. We did a mistake? We're suddenly inferior, vulnerable and useless. 🟣 This systematic pattern of conditional love and abuse/neglect ruined our perception of the self and the world building a disordered personality. 🔷 We have never been genuinely loved for who we were, generating a deep shame within ourselves from which we feel the need to escape. - The way we have learned to escape shame is to chase admiration and then take refuge on that fake pedestal (grandiosity) 🔹 We learned that our true self is not lovable, so we perform our best version of ourselves to prove that we're not trash as we learned. Every narcissist is different because some experienced more humiliation, some experienced overpraising (still harmful) and there are many other type of abuse. + everyone born with a natural temperament different from each other + we got praised for different things: for me was -for example- intelligence and independence, for others it may be other skills and qualities. but I can assure y'all ⚠️NPD doesn't exist without trauma⚠️ ps: it took me weeks to finish this f animation👹👹👹 #animation #npd #npdawareness #childhoodtrauma #fyp
