🌍 Meet planet-positive engineer and Pioneer Project Scholarship recipient Charles Oyamo. Growing up off-grid along Kenya’s border with Tanzania, Charles experienced energy poverty firsthand — and knew he had to do something about it. That spark led to the idea for Linq; a clean energy initiative building modular, decentralized solar battery hubs that redistribute surplus power in underserved communities. These community-based hubs use smart metering and pay-as-you-go models to elegantly solve energy access challenges. Their digital monitoring and credit system create a sustainable economic model — powering small businesses, electric mobility, and local resilience. This year, this bV Fellow was selected for a beVisioneers Pioneer Project Scholarship, a form of targeted financial support that helps Fellows apply their learning to real-world, planet-positive projects. With that support, Charles is now scaling Linq to a 1MWh SmartHub serving over 1,000 users a major step forward in delivering clean, community-owned energy solutions where they’re needed most.
