Gratitude 1. Our last evening at Disney World felt really special. Chantel Flanders and I joked that we're now Disney parents: we took Allen to Disneyland as a teen, and now Eleanor to Disney World as a toddler. I learned what feels like a hundred lessons on time management in the park, how to prepare for rainy or hot weather, and what makes the perfect travel snack. But the biggest lesson of all is that a certain amount of letting go is necessary when things don't go as planned, a healthy dose of gratitude changes how I feel in any situation, and being with the people you love is what it's all about.🤹🏼 2. Dancing in the rain with Eleanor was an absolute highlight of the trip.💃🕺 3. Standing in line to meet Mickey and Minnie, then seeing the line to meet Jack and Sally and thinking, "those are my people." It's a silly thing to identify with different characters, but there's a real sense of belonging in having a favorite one. ☠️

I've been listening to Linchpin by Seth Godin, and one idea keeps landing: art isn't a medium, it's a generous act that changes someone. He makes the case that meaningless work turns people into cogs, and that the way out is to bring your whole self, take the risk, and share your gifts. That's what I see at Salt Lake City Circus Center. Most of our students aren't professionals. They have pretty normal lives, but they show up, push past their fear, and make something. Here, art isn't just accepted, it's celebrated. Make art, my friends!
