I've been listening to Linchpin by Seth Godin, and one idea keeps landing: art isn't a medium, it's a generous act that changes someone. He makes the case that meaningless work turns people into cogs, and that the way out is to bring your whole self, take the risk, and share your gifts. That's what I see at Salt Lake City Circus Center. Most of our students aren't professionals. They have pretty normal lives, but they show up, push past their fear, and make something. Here, art isn't just accepted, it's celebrated. Make art, my friends! Gratitude 🙏 1. Orlando, here we come! We're on our way to Florida for a week of adventures with Chantel and Eleanor, and I can't even explain how excited I am to go to Disney World with her. Five years ago, if you'd asked whether I wanted to go to Disney World, the answer would've been a quick no. But the world's cutest 3.5-year-old has changed my mind about a lot of things. 🤣 I've got a Buzz Lightyear shirt for when she wears her Toy Story outfit, and a Tangled Pascal tee to match her princess dress. 2. Something to look forward to. This weekend's trip, our 80's block party at the studio and Trolley Square, and a couple of concerts I've been to lately all brought joy to an otherwise really hard month. 3. Generosity. Yesterday I was taken aback by someone's willingness to give without any thought of return. I don't even know if I'll take them up on their offer, but that single act changed me and made me want to be more giving. #gratitude #disneyworld #dadlife #circuslife #slccc

Gratitude 1. The Wu-Tang Clan & Bone Thugs-n-Harmony show was so much fun. Nostalgia was at an all-time high, especially seeing it with my longtime friend Dusty Olsen. 2. Deep conversations with Dusty before the show about what it's like to be a dad to a teenager. 3. I've long loved the collective nature of Wu-Tang Clan. A bunch of successful independent artists working together is really cool. In the circus world, it's a lot of work to be a duo artist and even more to be part of a group, but man, it's so special when it happens. I love our SLC Circus Center Performance Troupe. It feels special to watch individuals create something bigger than themselves.
