🇱🇻 Latvia has a population of under 2 million, compared with almost 59 million in England, despite being roughly half its size. Riga feels surprisingly big for a country with such a small population. ⭐️ The Freedom Monument was built in 1935 as a symbol of Latvian independence. The woman at the top holds three stars representing Latvia’s historic regions. 🏰 Riga’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, full of cobbled streets, historic squares and beautiful buildings. ⛪️ Riga’s skyline is full of historic churches, alongside its medieval buildings and leafy City Canal. 🖼️ I didn’t really know what Art Nouveau was before visiting, but it’s an architectural style known for flowing shapes, elaborate decoration and designs inspired by nature. Riga has a huge collection of it. Worth the Wander? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📌 SAVE for your Baltic itinerary I think this is my favourite capital of the Baltic countries. Worth the Wander? ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 📌 SAVE for your Estonia itinerary I visited at the end of September so it was cold and windy but I can see that it would be a special place in the Summer #parnu #estonia #estoniatravel #baltictravel #beachcapital
