📍Riga, Latvia Of the three Baltic capitals I visited, Riga might just have been my favourite❤️. From the architecture and cobbled streets to seeing the city from the water and taking in those views from St Peter’s Church, there was something about Riga that really appealed to me. Latvia has a population of under 2 million, compared with almost 59 million in England, despite being roughly half its size. Riga feels surprisingly big for a country with such a small population. ⭐️ The Freedom Monument was built in 1935 as a symbol of Latvian independence. The woman at the top holds three stars representing Latvia’s historic regions. 🏰 Riga’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, full of cobbled streets, historic squares and beautiful buildings. ⛪️ Riga’s skyline is full of historic churches, alongside its medieval buildings and leafy City Canal. 🖼️ I didn’t really know what Art Nouveau was before visiting, but it’s an architectural style known for flowing shapes, elaborate decoration and designs inspired by nature. Riga has a huge collection of it. Worth the Wander? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📌 SAVE for your Baltic itinerary I think this is my favourite capital of the Baltic countries. 📍 Pärnu, Estonia Pärnu has been officially known as Estonia’s Summer Capital since 1996. 🏖️ It’s famous for its long sandy beach and promenade. 🌊 It has been a popular resort destination for almost 200 years. ☀️ In summer, it comes alive with beachgoers, cafés and spa hotels. 🚗 It’s almost 130km from Tallinn, the countries political capital. Worth the Wander? ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ 📌 SAVE for your Estonia itinerary I visited at the end of September so it was cold and windy but I can see that it would be a special place in the Summer #parnu #estonia #estoniatravel #baltictravel #beachcapital
