#TheRescueEffect is rockin' and rollin' even harder now that @Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale has hit the stage 🎶🎸 Inspired by his own adopted dog, Kaya, we’re excited to announce Gavin as an ambassador for the ASPCA’s national adoption campaign – #TheRescueEffect! From August through October, The Rescue Effect highlights the lifesaving impact that pet adoption and fostering have on shelters by freeing up space and resources to help more animals in need. With over 500 participating organizations, these shelters and rescues are full of pets of all sizes, ages and personalities who are looking for loving homes. Gavin adopted Kaya in 2025 from Los Angeles Animal Services, a participating Rescue Effect shelter partner, ultimately creating a ripple throughout the shelter system that allowed them to support even more LA animals. Once homeless, Kaya is now Gavin's beloved companion who even accompanies him on tour and during photoshoots – just like this one! “That’s what I love about The Rescue Effect," said Gavin Rossdale. Don’t wait until a disaster is happening to prepare you and your pet. September is National Preparedness Month, making it the perfect time to build or update your pet's emergency go bag. The ASPCA has teamed up with @fedex to share what essential items to pack in your go bag in case of an emergency. Prepping a go bag in advance not only helps you evacuate quicker, but also reduces stress in an already stressful situation. You should pack items like: 🐾 7-10 days of food and water, with bowls 🐾 A collar with an ID tag, as well as any other walking equipment 🐾 Toys and a blanket just for your pet 🐾 A 2-week supply of medication and a digital copy of your pet's medical records 🐾 A crate and any bathroom supplies We’re grateful to our friends at @fedex, whose support helps our National Field Response Team transport emergency supplies and assist animals in need across the country. Rescued from Disaster, Bergen Finds His Home with First Responders🚒 When historic flooding hit West Virginia in February 2025, local animal shelter Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association (KCHA) requested the ASPCA’s assistance to help with an emergency transport of 41 dogs. That’s when we met Bergen and his littermates, who were safely on their way to the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC). Bergen was a fairly healthy pup when he arrived at the CRC, so after a neuter surgery, he was ready to find a home. It didn’t take long for firefighter and paramedic couple Amber and Delaney to spot his photo online and submit an application. One meeting was all it took for Bergen to find his people. Now named RVCA after Amber’s favorite brand, this pup spends his days playing with his canine siblings, stealing socks, exploring the firehouse and bringing joy to his family. This Disaster Preparedness Month, RVCA’s story is a reminder that emergencies can happen at any time and to anyone. Having a plan for your pets, from emergency supplies to visible pet alerts at home, can help keep every member of your family safe.
