Can Saw Palmetto Cause Sexual Side Effects? New Research Raises Questions! Saw palmetto is one of the most popular natural DHT blockers used for hair loss, but is it completely risk-free? A new 2026 case series raises concerns about possible persistent sexual and psychiatric side effects associated with Serenoa repens (saw palmetto), including symptoms reported after discontinuation. As a hair transplant surgeon, I think it’s important to discuss these findings without creating unnecessary fear. This is a small case series, and it does not establish causation or tell us how frequently these symptoms occur. Natural doesn’t always mean side effect-free. More research is needed to understand the potential risks. #SawPalmetto #HairLoss #DHTBlocker #HairTransplant #HairLossTreatment

The “dread shed” with minoxidil can look scary, but it can be part of the process. Minoxidil can push older hairs out of the resting phase so new growth can come in behind them. That’s why some people notice extra shedding in the first few weeks. It doesn’t automatically mean it’s making your hair loss worse. Consistency matters. 💚 #Minoxidil #HairShedding #HairLoss #HairGrowth #RootMD

Does creatine actually cause hair loss? As a hair transplant surgeon, I get asked this question constantly. And my answer is simple: Stop worrying about creatine causing hair loss! For years, people have been afraid that creatine increases DHT, the hormone responsible for androgenetic alopecia. This concern largely came from a small 2009 study that reported increased DHT levels but never actually measured hair loss. Now, we finally have better evidence. A 2025 randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition followed participants for 12 weeks, comparing creatine supplementation with a placebo. The researchers found: * No significant differences in DHT levels. * No significant differences in hair density. * No significant differences in hair thickness or other measured hair-health parameters. My takeaway? There is currently no convincing scientific evidence that creatine causes or accelerates hair loss. While larger, longer-term studies would be helpful, I see no reason for my patients to avoid creatine solely because they’re worried about going bald. Keep lifting. Keep taking your creatine. Stop stressing about your hair. 💪 #Creatine #HairLoss #HairTransplant #HairLossResearch #MalePatternBaldness
