I can finally say it… this house is starting to feel like HOME. 🥹🏡🤎 I’ve been budgeting and saving for this chapter for a long time, and furnishing my first home has definitely reminded me how EXPENSIVE it is to fill a whole house 😂 And I want to say this because I know social media can make it feel like you need to have everything done right away, you absolutely don’t. I furnished my home pretty quickly because I specifically budgeted for it and knew this was something I wanted to prioritize. My biggest advice is to be intentional with EVERYTHING you buy. Don’t buy something just because you have an empty corner to fill. Take your time, figure out what you actually love and scout around for the best price. Check your nearest thrift shop. Search Facebook Marketplace. Compare prices online. Wait for sales. You’d be surprised how many beautiful pieces you can find secondhand or for a fraction of the original price. I tried to choose pieces I genuinely LOVE, that work for our everyday life and that I can see myself keeping for years. Sometimes it’s worth waiting a little longer for the right piece instead of buying something just to have it. There are still things I want to add and change over time, but for the first time since getting the keys, I can finally look around and feel like this is OUR HOME. 🥹 The furniture makes it beautiful, but it’s the people inside that are going to make it special. One of my current FAVOURITE Vietnamese spots in Ottawa🍜 @mamamai.ottawa started as a little stall at Bayshore and now has its own restaurant in Bells Corners and I’m seriously obsessed. Their bánh mì is easily one of my favorites in the city. The bread + pâté combo is INSANE. Their bún bò Huế is packed with flavor, the phở has that clean, comforting broth with super tender meat, AND they’re always switching things up with weekly specials. 👀 But do not sleep on the drinks!! Their Vietnamese egg coffee is SO damn good, and the coconut coffee might be even more dangerous, creamy coconut slush paired with rich, classic Vietnamese coffee. And finish with the deep-fried banana. As a dog mom, one of my biggest worries has always been making sure my dogs are in good hands when I’m not there especially when it comes to grooming. I’ve been bringing Teddy to Furry Funville for almost two years now, and this time it was Rosie’s turn for her very first groom! Not only did she get pampered, but she also got to play and socialize with the other pups in their daycare program afterward. What I love most about the team at Furry Funville is how much they genuinely care. They go above and beyond to make every pup feel safe, comfortable and loved, and once you meet the team, you can immediately tell how much heart they’ve put into what they do. Teddy used to be anxious about grooming, but over time he started associating his grooming days with getting to play at daycare afterward. Now it’s something he’s so much more comfortable with and seeing Rosie have such a positive first experience made this dog mom very happy. 🥹 Groom, play, socialize and go home happy.
