Waves. ~ These folks had me playing a solo in a blues form!!! 😩 I canNOT remember the last time I’ve done this fareal! The Just Jazz x @ttatemusic Jam Session was so wholesome! It was so amazing seeing young players go from where they are currently. In being in their position at one point in time, I was taken aback! I need to go practice! 😭😭😭 It was an honor for me to be one of their special guest musicians for the night. I probably had more fun as a spectator than a participant, but as you have the opportunity to share the gift, do it properly and proudly. Dr. Tim Turner will always be my center of Jazz. I’m always thinking about if I’m doing this thing right on that side of town. And as he looks on, I hope he’s proud of me. Thank you @Miss Tatiana 💕 for curating a night these youngs are never going to forget!!! I’ll be talking bout this one for a while. #cherishlife #lovemovement #ifitaintspicyitaintnicey #gocrazy #biggerpicture

Wave. ~ Everybody Wants to Rule the World with the Reno Philharmonic I had the amazing opportunity over this past weekend to play an 80s tribute show with the Reno Philharmonic. I absolutely love brand new musical experiences where new things can be learned and appreciated, and this was def one for the books. This song from @Tears For Fears is truly Top 5 all time compositions for me. From Beat 1 on down, you just feel the feeling everytime you hear this song. That’s why artists have made their own renditions over the years, but sometimes you got to come back to the Original! Everybody Wants To Rule the World is one of the drummer’s Rites of Passage. And it IS NOT AN EASY ONE TO PLAY! It pushes the Bandwidth of your Independence if you’re not used to playing opposing accents. The hardest part is keeping the foot shuffle drive through the licks and glitter at the end of sections. That drive is really what gives this song its feel for real. So to simplify any part, you’ll feel like something is missing during the play through, especially if you’re playing it without percussionists. Snare Tone! : @Ludwig Drum Company 5x14 2014 Jazz Festival edition, @Remo Inc. Ambassador Classic Fit, @Big Fat Snare Drum Donut If you’re a drummer, I encourage you to study, analyze, and learn this piece. I guarantee you’ll find some gems to cherish in the music. #cherishlife #lovemovement #ifitaintspicyitaintnicey #biggerpicture #drums

Waves. ~ Took a lil 1, 2 right quick before @Miss Tatiana 💕 and I took some trading! What I can tell you is solos aren’t one dimensional. They can be danceable. But also, I’m speaking for myself 😂😂😂 Cause I am guilty of making grand statements all the time. Something surface level works in the right setting. #cherishlife #lovemovement #gocrazy #ifitaintspicyitaintnicey #drums
