⚠️ I do not necessarily recommend this preserve or route. 🚩The official preserve map notes only 1 trail in the preserve, but @alltrails shows several trails, all labeled “unmaintained.” Alltrails reviews had a lot of terms like poison oak, steep, and "trails are not well-marked." 🥵 I lost the trail once, went down an unmarked trail and had to backtrack up a hill, was very dependent on my hiking pole for downhill stability, and had to slide 10 ft on my 🍑 in two locations. ↗️ The first mile uphill had 630 ft elevation gain. 🌳 This hike was a beautiful slice of wilderness. Mostly oak, madrone, and poison oak forest, with the occasional patches of small redwoods 🌲 📍Teague Hill Open Space Preserve Woodside, California 🥾 Trail name: “unmaintained” 🚗 I parked at the end of Pinto Way, Woodside, (rich neighborhood street) and hikes up the hill from there. ❌💵 No parking fee ❌🚻 No restrooms ❌🐕 No dogs or pets ❌💧 No water source, BYO water ❌🗺️ No sign or paper map. Are you sure it's already October 3rd?! 🎃 September got busy and was the first month in several months that I didn't squeeze in at least 10 hikes, which was kinda disappointing, but it was also the month where I accomplished the most elevation gain (>8900 ft), which was kinda awesome. While October will be busy too, my goal is to get at least 10 hikes/nature walks & hopefully keep elevation gain above 8k.
