***LONG POST ALERT*** While I was praying in the shower this morning I felt lead to share this video and a little background. I’m going to get a little vulnerable this morning. First let me give a little background on this video. Monica Phillips was singing to Maecyn in the nursery and she was starting to calm a little. I had my worship playlist going in the background and wasn’t paying attention to the song until the chorus hit. At that point I knew the line coming up, and kept recording. Video is about 1:10 long. The song playing is @Brandon Lake’s song Kids. The line I’m referencing is: “And we'll see the barren hold their babies, their babies Impossible things we're gonna see with our own eyes” Most of you know our story by this point. We were promised a child and have waited and prayed for this child for about 12 years or so. The main thing I wanted to get vulnerable about was our faith. We get told all the time, “You guys faith is unshakable”, “You’re so strong in your faith”, “You always remain faithful”. The truth is we may be stronger now, but we haven’t always been. It’s been hard. We have been angry with God. We’ve run from Him and turned our backs on Him. We’ve been bitter, all while putting a front on that we trusted Him while in our hearts we were done. Sure, we knew what His Word said. We knew we could trust Him. But it hurt. We wanted what He promised. In 2020 when we got pregnant on our own after a few failed IVF cycles, we were so excited. We thought this is it for sure! Then we lost her. It felt like the old horse with a carrot and stick moment. That what He promised was just out of reach. We went to church, we did what we thought He wanted. We got angry and bitter and turned our backs. This lasted about 2 years or so. We just went through the motions. Barely went to church. Barely prayed. Barely talked to Him. Then, in 2022, Monica was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. We knew we had 2 options. Stay bitter, away, and isolated from God or run to Him, fall on our face and ask for forgiveness and begin to seek Him. We chose option 2 this time. See, we’ve tried that first option and it got us no where. Only more hurt, more pain, more frustration. So, why not try it His way? There’s a song that says, “Your way is better”, and let me tell you!! IT IS!! He brought peace in the storm, comfort in the pain, and He healed my wife!!! I’ll never forget the words of my pastor when he quoted Matthew 6:33 to me. He said, “you can’t fix this. Seek His face, and He will take care of it.” So I did. I tried it His way. And just as the song says, His way is better! These past 2 years, weve stepped from our comfort zones and began to be obedient to Him and His Word. Just as Psalm 37:4 says, Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. You dont just get your desires. You must delight yourself in Him. The Word says, to obey is better than sacrifice. He wants your obedience. He wants you. He wants a relationship with you. He loves you. So you see, there was pain, there was struggle. There was hurt. But He took it all! And that’s why we can stand like we do. Thats why we can say and know, “God’s got this!”. Our faith is in Him! Our provider, our Healer, our Rufuge. I know this post is a long, drawn out ramble. But it’s my heart and I felt led to share. Maybe someone will get something from it.
