Your Genie is a floor tilt, but on the pole. It’s the same external rotation of the legs, same tilt of the standing leg to get the 🍑 seated back, and the same pivot of the back foot to allow the bottom knee to hook the pole. Pattern recognition is an important part of being a pole instructor. There are MANY patterns in pole and the ability to identify them will allow you to better teach your students. You’ll be able to give them additional cues and shapes that will help them achieve their goals. #poledance #poletrick #beginnerpole #polefitnessbeginner #poletok

Recently saw a pretentious artist say this. Cue the eye roll. The ability to control a flexed foot is a skill and one of the most accessible parts of edgework. So keep flexing your feet and calling it edgework. Because it is. 🚩Working on a series: Artists with an elitist mindset. Go watch my next video to see a list of red flags. This particular example is Gatekeeping. #poledancer #poletok #poleflow #edgework #stl

I’ve been an artist in many different fields. Let me tell you, the one thing that is consistent across all of them is that elitism runs rampant. Here are some warning signs of an elitist mindset: 🚩Narrowminded. Believing there is a ‘right’ kind of artist. Dismissing those who don't fit a particular aesthetic. ‘I don't like it’ becomes ‘it's bad’ or ‘it's not good enough.’ 🚩Gatekeeping. Deciding who or what is deserving enough to participate, perform, teach, or call themselves an artist. 🚩Dismissing beginners.
Looking down on or treating inexperience as something embarrassing rather than a normal part of learning. 🚩 Ranking people. Skill, credentials, training, or status become reasons to view certain artists as inherently superior. 🚩Threatened by accessibility.
Dismissing art, teaching, or spaces that make participation easier, more welcoming, or more mainstream. High standards does not equal elitism. Believing those standards make you better than others though…that’s elitist. And unfortunately, the line between the two is thin and easily blurred. #poledance #poletok #artistsoftiktok #poleflow #beginnerpole
