Marshall, Alaska — thank you so much! ❤️ I had such an awesome time spending time in your community, hanging out with your kids, and doing my best to motivate and inspire them. You have an incredible group of young people out there, and I’m grateful I got the opportunity to spend a few days with them. This trip was a little different from what I usually do when I visit villages. This time, we also held a special session specifically for the adults in the community. It was similar to what I do with the youth, but I shared a much more adult version of my story — one that is more difficult for me to tell and touches on trauma, difficult emotions, addiction, setbacks, and some of the things we can endure throughout life. I rarely get the opportunity to share that side of my story, which is why this night meant so much to me. The reception and engagement were absolutely incredible. Everyone was invested, open-minded, willing to participate, and receptive to the message. It genuinely warmed my heart and made this trip especially meaningful to me. A huge thank you to the Native Village of Marshall and Marshall Traditional Council for inviting me out and giving me the opportunity to connect with your community. 🙏 And thank you for buying 50 Hardaway Learning hoodies to lace up the whole village!! 😂🔥 I can’t wait to come back one day and see Hardaway Learning hoodies everywhere! Marshall, thank you for welcoming me, trusting me with your youth, and allowing me to share another part of my story with your adults. You all have a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to see you again. ❤️

Tradition in the villages
Happy birthday to me! 🎉 Today I turn 37! 😬👴 Wow. 37. I’m really pushing 40 now. 😂 I always joke with the youngsters, “You better HOPE you look like this when you’re 37!” 😂 It’s a joke, but truthfully, I feel like I haven’t even reached my prime yet. There’s still so much life left to live, so much more I want to accomplish, and I’m genuinely excited about the future. Year 36 was certainly one of the most memorable years of my life. This time last year, I was visiting my very first string of villages. I spent my 36th birthday in a village, just two weeks removed from my construction career, with absolutely no idea what the future held. Today, I’ve been to over 30 villages, turned myself into a full-time professional speaker, and I sit here turning 37 and—dare I say it… I feel happy. Year 36 was a roller coaster. I haven’t always stood on solid ground—career-wise or mentally. There were moments of uncertainty. Moments when I wanted to quit completely. But for the first time in my entire life—I sit here today with a career that I love, a mission that I believe in, and without that overbearing pull on my spirit constantly telling me: You’re not enough. You’re not doing enough. You’re not achieving enough. For most of my life, no matter how well I was doing by my own standards, somehow it still never felt like enough. And what a blessing it is to finally sit with something you built and genuinely love what you do. That’s what life is about. I have arrived. And I’m very proud of myself. And that’s why one of my favorite sayings is: Your time is coming. If you’re going through one of those seasons yourself—where the vision is cloudy, you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, and the future feels uncertain—trust the process. Hold steadfast to that vision of your future. Keep believing in the better version of yourself. Keep believing that the life you want is possible. Your time to shine. Your time to thrive. Your time to be surrounded by love. Your time to genuinely enjoy your life. It’s not impossible. It could be right around the corner. Your time is coming. Here’s to 37. ❤️ Love you all.
Thank you so much, POW (Prince of Wales) Island!! 🏔️❤️ I went to three schools and three communities in three days—Klawock to Thorne Bay to Hydaburg! My time coming out to Southeast Alaska has been an amazing experience—and honestly, it brought back some old memories. My sister is Tlingit and Haida, and growing up, her grandmother—who I considered my grandmother too—lived in Ketchikan. As a youngster, I used to come out to Southeast Alaska and spend time with her. She would make us moccasins and dream catchers, and one of my favorite things was seeing the totem poles. I think that’s where my fascination and appreciation for Alaska Native culture really began. The art. The attire. The food. The architecture. The history and heritage. I’ve been fascinated by it since I was a kid. Southeast Alaska is a completely different world from the areas up north where I spend so much of my time, and certainly different from Anchorage. Coming back here reminded me of some of those childhood experiences and why I fell in love with learning about the different cultures throughout Alaska in the first place. This trip was remarkable! Even though these communities are close to one another, each one has its own identity, culture, and personality. But one thing they definitely have in common is an AMAZING group of young people. Prince of Wales Island has some great kids growing up out here. I see future leaders. Future creators. Future business owners. Future difference-makers. Thank you to every school, community, teacher, staff member, and young person who welcomed me and made this trip so memorable. I can’t wait to come back and see these kids again. POW, thank you for the memories! Southeast Alaska, I LOVE it out here!! ❤️🏔️ Until next time! 🙏🏾
