“Do you do half-day trips?” I get asked this all the time, and the answer is no. Here’s why. Half-day trips were originally created for cruise ship passengers who only had a few hours in Cabo. The problem is that offshore fishing doesn’t work on a schedule. Some days the marlin are just a few miles from the marina. Other days they’re 20, 30, or even 40+ miles offshore. If the fish are far away and you’re on a half-day trip, you really only have two options: 1.	Spend about two hours running to the fish, fish for about an hour, then spend another two hours running back. Or… 2.	Stay within 1 to 5 miles of the marina and fish closer to shore because there simply isn’t enough time to make the run offshore. Neither option gives you the experience most people travel to Cabo for. With a full day, we have the freedom to go wherever the fish are. We can run the productive banks, change locations if needed, switch techniques, and stay on the bite instead of watching the clock. That’s why our catch rates are consistently better and why we only offer full-day offshore charters. That said, it’s still your trip. If you’ve caught enough fish, the kids are ready for the pool, or you want to get back early for lunch, just let me know. We’ll point the bow toward Cabo whenever you’re ready. I’d rather you have the time available and not need it than need the time and not have it. #cabofishing #marlinfishing #sportfishing #rightrigger

Thirty miles offshore, everything changed in a matter of minutes. One minute we’re fishing, the next we’re staring at 45–50 knot winds, absolutely insane rain, thunder cracking around us and lightning lighting up the entire sky. There wasn’t anything to debate. We picked everything up, pointed the Right Rigger toward San José del Cabo and hauled ass for the marina to get ourselves and everyone onboard somewhere safe. This is the part of offshore fishing people don’t see on Instagram. The ocean doesn’t give a shit how experienced you are, how good your boat is, or what the forecast said that morning. Conditions can go from manageable to dangerous incredibly fast. Unfortunately, this storm was much more than just a wild ride home. There are reports of boats still unaccounted for, a boat overturned, and tragically, a life lost. We made it in safely. Not everyone was as fortunate. Respect the ocean. Respect the weather. And when Mother Nature tells you it’s time to go, you fucking go. #CaboSanLucas #CaboFishing #rightrigger

Sometimes you’ve just got to trust your gut. The morning was slow as hell. We raised one striped marlin, but she didn’t stick. I wasn’t feeling it, so I told the boys, “Pick ‘em up, we’re making a move.” Ten miles later we slid back toward the 1150. We hadn’t even finished putting the spread out. Hell, we didn’t even have the second rod in before the ocean exploded. That blue came out of nowhere and absolutely fucking crushed a Moyes J-Boy right behind the boat. She dumped damn near 500 yards of line in one screaming run before finally settling in for a fight. The crew never let up. Thirty minutes later we had her boatside. She gave us everything she had. The fight wasn’t over, though. I spent a long time bringing her back, making sure she was strong enough to swim away. Finally she kicked hard, lit up electric blue, and disappeared back into the deep where she belongs. People see the pictures. They don’t always see the decisions, the teamwork, or the effort that goes into making sure these incredible fish survive.

There’s nothing in sportfishing that looks more unreal than a striped marlin free jumping across the Pacific off Cabo San Lucas. No hook. No line tight. Just pure chaos and adrenaline. This fish came completely unglued… launching 20–30 feet at a time and going airborne over and over again like it had somewhere to be. One of the wildest things you’ll ever witness offshore. This is exactly why Cabo is considered one of the billfish capitals of the world. #Cabo #marlin #RightRigger

Most guys in Cabo right now are fishing lighter tackle for striped marlin, dorado, tuna, and wahoo… not dragging around giant blue marlin gear hoping for one bite every few days. But every single year around April or May, one absolute slob of a blue marlin shows up out of nowhere… and somebody gets lucky. Today it happened. These boys landed a 740 pound blue marlin on light gear after an all-out war. Heard the reel handle even broke during the fight. True or not… with a fish that size, nothing would surprise me. That’s what makes Cabo so addicting. You can be trolling around thinking it’s just another normal day… then all of a sudden you’re attached to a sea monster. This is exactly why we stay ready year-round. #Cabo #marlin #bluemarlin
