White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes Harmony Build I’m back! It’s been a long minute since I’ve been in my studio. I’ve done a few of these from the road, but it’s a lot harder with setting up and tearing down equipment and also not scaring the crap out of my hotel neighbors. Anyway, as you all have really great music taste, I’ve had quite a few requests for a Fleet Foxes song, which I’m happy to oblige. I first saw them perform on Nigel Godrich’s From The Basement series on YouTube and I was hooked. This music feels really old, in a good way…the same way Lord of the Rings or The Band did. Timeless stuff. This song really does start off with eight rounds of “I was following the”. I wanted to stay true to form so, thanks for being patient. I’ll probably do more Fleet Foxes, because they’re so good. Enjoy! #howto #harmony #fleetfoxes @Fleet Foxes

California Dreamin’ - The Beach Boys Harmony Build In 1986, The Beach Boys released this cover of John and Michelle Phillips classic song, made famous by their version with The Mama’s & The Papas, which is such a funny name for a band. While the boys version of this only reached number 57 on the charts, it’s become a staple in the live show and it’s fun to sing this every night with them. I’m going to also post a harmony build of The Mamas & The Papas version so you can see how different the harmony arrangements are. California Dreamin’ The Mamas & The Papas Harmony Build John and Michelle Phillips originally wrote this song for Barry McGuire to sing. The Wrecking Crew performed the instrumental and the Mamas & The Papas sang the background vocals. Later, the record company decided to release a version for the Mamas & The Papas and had Denny sing the lead, keeping the original track in place, becoming the definitive version we all know and love. Which version do you like better? This one, or The Beach Boys version? Mic: @Warm Audio WA47 Interface: @Universal Audio Apollo Twin DAW: Logic Pro X
