✨ Transformation Tuesday ✨ Meet Petey. 🧡 When Petey arrived at WPCCAS at just 3-4 weeks old, he was fighting for his life. His leg was in horrific condition—barely hanging onto his tiny body. He was scared, hurting, and desperately needed help. But Petey wasn’t ready to give up. Thanks to the incredible care provided by Dr. Clay and the team at West Point Animal Clinic, Petey was given a chance. A chance to heal. A chance to grow. A chance to experience the love and comfort every kitten deserves. Today, Petey is thriving. He may not be 100% physically, but he is absolutely perfect to us. ❤️ His story is a reminder that every animal deserves a chance, regardless of the challenges they face. 🐾 Today, we’re asking for your help. Veterinary care like Petey received is lifesaving—but it isn’t free. For Transformation Tuesday, we’d love to raise $250 to help offset the cost of Petey’s medical care and ensure we can continue saying “yes” to the next injured kitten who needs us. 💙 $5 buys supplies. 💙 $10 helps with medications. 💙 $25 helps support veterinary care. 💙 Every donation, no matter the size, helps save lives. If Petey’s journey has touched your heart, please consider donating today. Because every transformation starts with someone willing to care. 🧡🐾 #wpccas #rescuecatsoftiktok #animalshelterlife #transformationtuesday

🐾 Tails & Truths Thursday 🐾 The Truth About Spay & Neuter in the South Here in Mississippi, animal overpopulation isn’t a future problem—it’s happening right now. Every year, shelters and rescues across the South are overwhelmed with unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. We see it firsthand. Healthy, adoptable animals waiting for homes while more and more continue to be born. 🐾 The Truth: Spaying and neutering saves lives. By preventing accidental litters, you’re helping reduce shelter overcrowding, decreasing the number of homeless animals, and ensuring that more pets have the opportunity to find loving homes. And let’s be honest: If you cannot afford to spay or neuter your pet, you cannot afford an unplanned litter. Period. Vaccinations, deworming, emergency medical care, food, supplies, and potential complications during pregnancy and birth cost far more than a routine spay or neuter surgery. The good news? There are affordable options available right here in Mississippi: ✂️ The Snip Station in Verona ✂️ OCHS Spay & Neuter Clinic ✂️ Tubb Spay & Neuter Project ✂️ And many other low-cost spay/neuter programs throughout the state We also need to have a difficult conversation: The South does not need more breeders. Just because you purchased a purebred dog does not mean that dog should be bred. Responsible breeding requires extensive health testing, pedigree research, financial investment, knowledge, and a commitment to every puppy produced for its entire lifetime. The reality is that shelters are already full of wonderful dogs and cats—purebred, mixed breed, young, old, and everything in between—waiting for homes. At WPCCAS, we love every puppy and kitten that comes through our doors. But our goal isn’t to stay full. Our goal is to see fewer animals entering shelters in the first place. ❤️ Spay. Neuter. Save lives. Because the most effective way to help shelter animals starts long before they ever enter a shelter. #TailsAndTruthsThursday #WPCCAS #SpayAndNeuter #fyp #rescuedogsoftiktok

🐾❤️ Support Local Saturday ❤️🐾 This Saturday, we want to highlight two very deserving dogs who hit especially close to home. Duke and Riley were recently owner-surrendered to us by a family right here in Clay County. Through no fault of their own, these boys are now looking for something every dog deserves: a second chance, a brighter future, and a fresh start. 🐶 Duke 🐶 Duke is a 1.5-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix who has spent his entire life in a farm-style setting. He will be neutered prior to adoption and is already fully vaccinated, dewormed, and current on preventatives. Believe it or not, Duke is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE! 🎉 For an outdoor dog in the South, that’s almost unheard of. This sweet boy is still learning what a leash is, but he is making progress every single day. Due to his breed and background, prior livestock guardian experience is required for local adoption, along with an approved application. 🐶 Riley 🐶 Sweet, handsome Riley has spent his entire life alongside Duke. This 2.5-year-old Black Lab mix is tall, dark, and handsome 🤩 and if you ask nicely, he may even flash you his famous smile 🙂‍↔️. Riley is everything you could want in a companion—gentle, loving, and eager for affection. Unfortunately, heartworms didn’t skip over this big guy. 💔 Riley is heartworm positive, but that does NOT change his future here. He is receiving the care he needs and is well on his way to recovery. Both of these boys are still adjusting to shelter life. We’ve given them a few days to decompress before introducing them to our certified dog testers (special shoutout to Bethany and Smiley, who are also available for adoption! 🐾). If you’re local and looking for a loyal companion, please consider giving Duke or Riley the fresh start they deserve. Share their story, spread the word, and help us find these Clay County boys the loving homes they’ve been waiting for. ❤️ 🏡 Duke and Riley are also available for rescue commitment! At the end of the day, we simply want what’s best for these boys. They have spent their entire lives in a home, and they don’t deserve to spend months living in a shelter kennel waiting for another chance. Whether through adoption or rescue, our goal is to get them into loving homes as quickly as possible where they can settle in, feel safe, and be part of a family again. 📍 West Point Clay County Animal Shelter 📋 Approved application required 🐾 Local livestock guardian experience required for Duke 🤝 Rescue inquiries welcome #WPCCAS #SpayAndNeuter #fyp #rescuedogsoftiktok #animalshelterlife
