Listening to all the things people say about her, watching the way she talks about others, watching the way she looks out for others, like her costars and film crews, and especially the people close to her. Hearing stories from interviews where the teen cast of yellowjackets praise her for being so supportive and standing up for them and herself. That kind of thing I notice and strive to be. That kind of friend, or peer to others is admirable, even if it is supposed to be the standard, Melanie does it so well and that’s one of the things I appreciate about her and try to replicate whether it be in my daily life or even reaching out to people. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELANIE!!! this is part 1 of 3 i’m posting them all together because the edit was too long for tiktok apparently so please check out the full thing!! - I couldn’t even tell you how long her art/acting has been present in my life. I just remember bits and pieces and times where I was so invested in whatever project she had been making at the time, like watching Mrs. America every week back when lockdown began and we were all scared of the unknown at the time, but i had a friend group and we wouldn’t miss an episode of that show because it brought us the most joy. Or in my very early teens when I watched but i’m a cheerleader for the first time and I knew they made something special on that set and every time I watch it I notice something else that makes it more special. I just watched it again last night with friends who haven’t seen it and i still get chills, watching Rose in two and a half men when I just need a laugh or two has become a comfort of mine. Watching Shauna go on her tirade, yet still seeing the human in her (and trying to explain her actions on the internet to people who thinks she’s an irredeemable monster.) Watching new projects that have just come out like Griffin in Summer, which was phenomenal and then telling friends so I could watch it with them. Melanie’s work has been so present in my life and I admire the artistry that she has brought to the world and my screen especially. Happy Birthday <3
