It only recently occurred to me that my natural hair can be the canvas EYE experiment on, not someone else 🎨 Everyone knows I love creative braided hairstyles but getting it done every other month started to strip away the autonomy that I didn’t know I wanted 💭 Which means I can play around with hairstyles without a purpose. The same way a photographer captures something spontaneously or a sculptor moulds something out of feeling ✨ “I can make it up as I go?” “It doesn’t need to be perfect?” “It can last me a few days instead of weeks or months?” Well, yes. Shocking to (me) the average Type A personality high-functioning Black woman. Not everything needs to run on a strict program 😅 Creativity is such a spectrum but really it’s about learning and using intuition. So I’m going back to basics with twists, curls and the occasional natural extensions ➰ And as soon as I learn how to cornrow fr fr, it’s over for y’all 🤪 (Someone get me a mannequin head so I can practice, please & thank you 🙏🏿) #naturalhairstyles #4chair #twiststyles #afrohairstyles #type4hair

Dating standards: High 📈 Beauty standards: Black 🖤 World Afro Day is all about celebrating afro-textured hair, but in order to celebrate it, you gotta love it and in order to love it, you gotta understand it and in order to understand it, you gotta accept it 🥰 I hope every Black woman learns to love the hair that grows from their scalp naturally (no matter the texture, length or density) and gains the confidence to wear it publicly... cuz selfishly I need to see more women with my hair type for inspo 😂 Where my 4c fine hair girlies at? ❤️ #type4hair #4chair #twistout #worldafroday #naturalhairstyles

The feeling of finding a natural hairstyle you like 😍 It seems so simple but if I didn’t clip back half of my hair I would have hated the style 😅 And since my type 4c hair is on the finer side/low density, adding a bunch of accessories can lead to damage ❌ Sometimes small changes can make a big difference so let this be your sign that less is more 💖 #type4hair #4chair #naturalhairstyles #afrohairstyles #finehair
