A wee gift from Scotland to Boston to show our appreciation for all your hospitality and to celebrate our twinning #boston #glasgow #scotland #tartanarmy #cone

People of Boston, here’s the full explanation for why we put cones on statues. This is the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow city centre. Back in the 1980s a drunk Glaswegian stuck a cone on its head. The council took it down. We put it back up. They took it down. We put it back up. Repeat to infinity. It’s since become a tradition, and our favourite landmark in the whole city. We only do it for a laugh, in good humour, and eventually the council just gave up. So if we start doing it to your statues, take it as the highest compliment. It means we love you 🥰 #boston #scotland #tartanarmy #worldcup #cones

A bird poos on our Scottish pal while he admires the new Boston cone on the top of the Duke of wellington statue in Glasgow as a gift to the people of Boston. Does this mean we’ll win the Brazilian game? #boston #glasgow #birdpoo #scotland #cone
