Nelson Gonzales and Carol Steele reminisced about the madness of the clubs back then. Things happened you wouldn’t believe… and somehow the music kept going. They cleaned up, called the band back, and said: “Play.” Different time. Different energy. The show didn’t stop. Hashtags: #percussion #LatinMusic #NYCNightlife #MusicHistory #OldSchool

Nelson caught a lot of heat for hiring Carol to play congas. Back then, that just wasn’t done. But he trusted her. And she proved it. All these years later, they’re still here, with a bond built on music, respect, and history. Nelson talks about when the band broke up and they needed a bongo player. He didn’t want to play congas or bongos himself — he needed his hands for the tres. So what did he do? He hired one of the loudest conga players out there… Montalvo. Problem solved. #NelsonGonzalez #EddieMontalvo #LatinMusic #CongaLife #MusicStories
