Reminiscing from our New England trip last year.

I grew up in a family that made just about everything from scratch. If it could be whisked, rolled, kneaded, chopped, or baked — we did it ourselves. That was normal life in our house. But even with all that homemade goodness around me, those Christmas cookie tins still had this… prestige. I’d see one and think, “Whoa. That’s the fancy stuff.” Something about the shiny metal, the little paper cups, the perfectly shaped cookies — it all felt a bit elevated, like the holidays had an extra layer of sparkle. It wasn’t about money or status. It was just that, as a 90’s kid, those tins had a kind of magic to them. They were special. They meant the season was officially here. Even today, one glimpse of that red-and-gold lid brings me right back to that feeling — a mix of excitement, wonder, and the simple joy of believing certain things were just a little more “premium” than everything else.
