Let me guess? You've saved all the poses to a mood board. It's in the notes app on your phone. You've prepared for the session like a pro. You 👏 are 👏 ready👏! Then your client walks in so nervous they're stiff as a board and your poses aren't landing. You keep trying different ones but absolutely none of them look like your inspo pics. I've got great news: you and your client are not the problem. They are just uncomfortable. Poses are incredibly helpful and a great way to be prepared but no one is talking about how to get your clients comfortable enough to do them. No one likes to share this part because it doesn't feel technical enough to teach, until now. 😏 How about a little show and tell? I've capture a full session with a real client and broken down every verbal and nonverbal thing I do to get someone from stiff and nervous to relaxed and confident in real time. After years of mastering studio sessions with some of the toughest clients (kids and teens) I've learned exactly how to guide a nervous client through a comfortable photoshoot experience. If you need a little help with the how, I left it in the bio for you👆

The barrier to entry for a good photoshoot is taking good pictures. As for me, I'm trying to leave people with an experience that is not only positive but impactful. A photoshoot is so much more than great photos it's an experience of self expression. I'm giving people a chance to show up authentically and say here I am. I am enough. I am evolving. I am more than a pretty smile. I do not need to perform. I do not need to show up how others feel I should. I'm just me. And for those that think it's not that serious, sure. It doesn't have to be but I'll be damned if I'm going to make one more girl or woman feel like they can't feel seen without performance in my photoshoots.

When you give kids the space to actually be themselves they just might show you a little more of who they really are. Photoshoots don't have to be this performative experience or battle of wills. They can wear what they want, smile if they want to and give you some of the most unapologetic and authentic photos you've ever had of your kid. Not to mention they look so damn cool too 😎
