Christmas dream destination in Europe 🎄 This European Christmas city feels straight out of a fairytale 😍 It’s like walking through a storybook! I kept stopping every few steps because every single corner looked like a postcard. Everywhere you look there are fairy lights and festive treats. I was basically running on waffles and hot chocolate the whole time and not mad about it 😆 The Bruges Christmas markets are so cute and at night the Winter Glow light trail lights up the city. Everything you need to know about Hallstatt Did you know this fairytale town is said to have inspired Arendelle from Disney’s Frozen? ❄️ Before visiting, I put together a short list of things to know to make your trip easier ☺️ 📍 How to get there Fly to Linz or Salzburg, then take a 2h train to Hallstatt. Check timetables and buy train and bus tickets on ÖBB’s website. 🛏 Where to stay Hallstatt is tiny and accommodation is limited (and pricey). I recommend staying in nearby Obertraun, just 5 minutes away by bus. I stayed at Haus Hepi, only a short walk from the train station. Super clean room with mountain views, great breakfast and the loveliest host, highly recommend. 🚆 Getting around The bus from Obertraun to Hallstatt is €3. There’s also a boat connecting Hallstatt’s old town to the train station across the lake (€4). Transport is super reliable and always on time. ⏰ When to go I visited in January and it looked magical with the snow. I arrived around 8am, it was almost empty and so peaceful. It got busier from around 10am when tours arrived. You can see most of Hallstatt in 2–3 hours. It can get very crowded in spring/summer. 🍽 Food Food options in Hallstatt are very limited and not great, so I’d eat elsewhere if possible.
