Resentencing update: As expected, our petition was denied. Even so, it was difficult to process. @yvonne_sisterofantoniochavez never attended Antonio’s trial as a child and naturally, being in court for the first time on his case brought a slew of emotions. We thank everyone — those behind the scenes, the silent heroes who have guided us and stepped up. We cannot speak their names but they have sprung into action. @lovestreetsca for being there in the front end, taking control in the court, and doing damage control. Most importantly, for making the next of kin feel seen and heard. @simacohenofficial and her team for being Antonio’s peace and insight. @jessesplaceorg, who held our first social media prayer for justice a night before the hearing, was our calm before the storm. @voicesofstrength, an impacted sister who uplifts their voice and is ready to support. @7i7iana a social justice advocate for lending her knowledge and emotional support. Especially the heroes who recently joined their fight. Also, it couldn't have happened without everyone on here for literally going on this journey with us and showing genuine concern and support, the true supporters and impacted families. Lastly, we thank family and friends. This hearing mattered and they nearly doubled their presence from 7/15. Some traveled from out of state and even the country! THEY SHOWED UP, THEY WERE NOTICED. Note: Everyone in attendance acted within what is morally right and engaged in civil pro-social disobedience as they waved to acknowledge Antonio and showed unity, and as the denial was being delivered, they held up signs to show their opposition (some signs shown in video). Without our advocate guiding us, we would've been silenced. We will post a more elaborate update once the transcripts are in with our next course of action.
