There are moments when I watch my kids and my first thought is… “my mom and dad would have LOVED this.” I watch all three of my kids doing amazing things. Growing. Working hard. Becoming these incredible people. And as proud as I am, there’s this little ache underneath it all because my parents aren’t here to see any of it. They don’t get to watch the games. They don’t get to see the competitions. They don’t get to hear about the wins, the hard work, the little victories. They’re missing out. And sometimes I just want someone to turn to and say, “Can you believe what they’re doing?” Because my parents would have been SO proud. I think that’s the part of grief people don’t always talk about. You don’t only miss someone on the anniversary of their death or on the holidays. You miss them in the middle of the good stuff. You miss them when life is beautiful. You miss them when your kids give you another reason to be proud. This isn’t a sad video about missing my parents. It’s about missing them while life is still so good. I’m so incredibly grateful I get to be here for all of it.
