as i sit here trying to come up with the right words to encapsulate the enormity of the feeling in my gut right now, the one thing that keeps coming up over and over again is an overwhelming sense of gratitude. i started this account years ago when i was just a lost sixteen year old trying to find her footing in the world. at the behest of a friend who encouraged me to post some of my poetry, i made my very first post. since then, this platform, this place has become one of the most transformative spaces i have ever had the great privilege of being a part of. this place molded my dreams. it held my hand through some of the toughest personal tragedies i’ve been forced to navigate my way through. it held the tender heart of a young girl trying to find her way, carve out her passions, carve out a small space for herself in the world. i hope, as it did for me, that the weird little bits of beauty i put out on here held just a couple of you through hard times. each and every one of you has altered the trajectory of my life in more ways than you could possibly know. thank you for being my rock and allowing me to grow with you. i remember all of your kindness and beautiful empathy. to quote one of my favorite filmmakers, jonas mekas: “keep looking for things. even in places where there is nothing.” we must keep seeking out our own fragments of paradise, even in the silence, even in the heat, even in a lonely old age; life goes on, but so does the beauty. thank you all so much. love you all so much. i would not me who I am today without all of this and all of you. we will find eachother again, if not in a literal sense, then in the little glittering details of everyday life.
