Update: seahorses are real. Our guide’s exact words were “no promise” but the ocean was on my side. My first seahorses ever, and the second one, bright white and gold, sitting out in the open, one of the most unique things I’ve ever seen! The supporting cast wasn’t bad either: two chain morays, a bearded fireworm (do NOT touch — the bristles snap off in your skin and burn for hours), a peacock flounder, and a green sea turtle doing his best Crush impression. For the record: we kept our distance and our hands to ourselves. Seahorses stress easily, look, film, leave them be. More from the Dominican Republic coming. I just love diving with seals. Especially in a place as beautiful as this. Genuinely curious who you think was in control here, me or her. 🦭 For the record: you never swim at a seal. It’s harassment, it’s illegal, and it ruins the exact thing you came out for. I stopped kicking and let her make every decision.
