Creating a top table arrangement for a wedding can look straightforward, but there are lots of things to consider to make sure the finished design is both professional and practical. In my online lesson, I take you through my approach to creating a traditional symmetrical top table arrangement, including **scale and proportion, creating the correct length and width, flower and foliage selection, construction, balance and stability, and adding flowers for maximum impact. I also talk about an important consideration for wedding work — the flowers need to look their best on the day, rather than relying on them to open later. This is a practical, step-by-step prerecorded lesson for florists and floristry students who want to develop their skills and feel more confident creating wedding designs. You can watch it in your own time, pause and rewind as you work, and come back to it whenever you need a refresher. 🌿 Want to learn my process? Unsure about colour? Not sure how to match colours? Struggling to make your colour palette effective? Here's three simple suggestions- 1. Use a colour wheel and learn about colour harmonies. Understand about tints, tones and shades and how one colour affects another. 2. Look for seasonal inspiration, look at the trees, the flowers in your garden, take a walk to your local park. Look at the buds contrasting against the stem, how the bright stamens contrast the colour of the petals. 3. Take a look at fashion, interior decor, fabrics, window displays, magazines, gardening books. Remember colour is subjective, cultural and very emotive, just because you love it, it doesn't mean someone else will 😉
