5 THINGS I LEARNED FROM OPENING MY OWN SUITE 👀 Everyone talks about the freedom of being your own boss, but let’s talk about the things nobody really prepares you for. 1. You don’t automatically make more money. 💸 Being your own boss doesn’t mean you’re suddenly making more. You still have expenses, overhead, products, rent, and a business to keep running. More freedom doesn’t always mean more profit. 2. You can end up with shitty landlords. 🫠 You can do everything right on your end and still have someone managing your space who makes your life harder than it needs to be. Read your lease. Protect yourself. Learn your rights. 3. It’s easy to lose your inspiration and motivation. When you’re doing everything yourself, the excitement can eventually turn into burnout. You’re the stylist, the marketer, the receptionist, and the business owner. Sometimes you need more than a cute space to keep yourself inspired. 4. It gets lonely. And I don’t think enough people talk about this one. You can love what you do and still miss having a team, people to bounce ideas off of, and coworkers who understand exactly what your day looks like. 5. You HAVE to be active on social media. 📲 You can be incredibly talented, but if nobody sees your work, how are they supposed to know you exist? You can’t always rely on word of mouth. You have to show up, create content, and consistently put yourself out there. Opening my own suite taught me SO much about business, independence, and what I actually want for my future. And honestly? It helped me realize that my vision was bigger than working alone in a room. That’s a huge part of why I’m building Divinity Beauty Lounge. 👑 Looking for a new salon home?
