My son turned 14 today and wanted to try a new Italian restaurant. There was a time when he only eat chicken nuggets but today he eats any and everything in sight something we never thought would happen. He put me in a full headlock / hug three times during the meal because he was excited but the other guests were pretty cool. I know it can be hard and over stimulating to take our kids out sometimes but you have to. You must that is the only way our kids get the practice or the “homework” to learn. #autism #birthdaydinner #tigerdad

Some of us are struggling to survive autism where everyday is an exercise in getting beat down. I know how difficult it is. But I want you to know if you want a better future for your child and your family you have to learn about the approaches people have taken to achieve progress and success. You have to let your guard down and try new ways to support your child. It is hard to prosper if all you know is survival like a cornered animal. Get out the corner and look up. My autistic child loves playing the piano and the violin because he has had success with both. He enjoys the feeling of being good at something. He understands that he has the power, opportunity and ability to improve musically and he practices on his own. Our kids despite learning differences are capable of things we cannot imagine. I get overwhelmed in a good way when I think about the possibility of my sun studying violin after high school. #violin #autism #musiccamp #postsecondaryeducation #summer2027
