I just launched a compression sock brand that’s gonna change everything. And I want to know, what are the biggest pain points with your current socks? Whether it’s colors, prints, fit, durability, breathability, length, I want to hear it all. ~~More about @Mode Compression and me: 💫 For the past two years, I’ve been learning how to design, prototype, manufacture and market the perfect compression sock. As a lifelong compression sock wearer I knew what I wanted the product to look and feel like. As for the rest of building Mode Compression, well that took a lot of trial and error and even more help from friends and family. Let’s take a step back: I had melanoma removed when I was 15 YO and developed a chronic cankle a year later. My doc recommended I wear compression socks every day, wrote me a prescription and sent me on my way. The only options at the time were synthetic pharmacy brands, you know the ones. Thankfully we’ve come a long way since then but it still feels like we’re missing something. When I think of modern compression socks brands, I think Comrad, Wellow, Vim&Vigr. Even Bombas makes compression socks now. But somehow all of them look exactly the same. Branding, colors, prints, marketing…all the same and frankly it’s all boring. Sure, compression socks are medical garments, but why can’t they also be cool? Remember the mod knee high girls from the 60s or the classic 70s school girls? Cool NYC girls are wearing knee high socks now, styling them into their everyday outfits. What if we started treating our compression socks like this instead? As a cute voluntary addition to your everyday outfits instead of a boring medical accessory you have to wear. I’ve learned there is a huge community of young women who wear compression socks for a number of medical reasons. And many of these women, myself included, struggle to wear and style them because the options out there are well, unappealing. At Mode Compression we’re reframing the way we think about compression socks. We see a world where compression socks support your health and elevate your personal style. Through colors and prints that evoke a vintage mood for a modern woman. So, do other people agree there’s a gap here? To those who wear compression socks, what are your pain points with your current socks? I want to build the products that the compression community really needs.
