‘Grim Tidings’ by B.K. Borison ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  / 🌶🌶 She does it again. A grim reaper and a guardian angel walk into a bar... This book was incredible from start to finish.   I love Darcy and I love Gabriel. I love how they interact with each other and I love how they interact with others. Their pull to one another was immediate and intoxicating. Darcy, my sweet, sweet girl. She is strong and vulnerable in so many ways. And we know I love main male character who is all “I’ll protect you”, so Gabriel, where that’s literally his job, was always going to have my heart. Even when he was her enemy, there was a softness for her in him. I felt the additional characters were great, though I would have loved even more of them, especially Nate and Frank. Nevertheless, I do feel like I got to know the base of who they were.   This book obviously deals a lot with death (the main character being a grim reaper and all). That’s always going to be a difficult subject to navigate and make beautiful, but B.K. Borison does it remarkably. This cutesy romance book has me thinking about life and death in so many different ways. I also recommend reading the acknowledgements at the end. You know they’re good when they can make you cry (and annotate).   I loved this book and I expected nothing less. I kind of even want to reread it or listen to it in the future. #grimtidings #bkborisonbooks #bkborison

‘The Heartbreak Hotel’ by Ellen O’Clover ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 I just love all love.  When Louisa finds herself single, she can no longer afford to live in the beautiful house she has made a home. So she strikes a deal with her landlord Henry to run it as a bed and breakfast, but she had not idea how often he would be around.  As someone who is currently on her first watch of Gilmore Girls, I love a story centered around an inn. I could rave about the atmosphere set in this book and I could go into all the gritty details of the romance (trust there’s some gritty ones), but those pieces weren’t what I enjoyed most about this book.  What I enjoyed most was the focus on other kinds of relationships. Friends, parents, sisters, exes, and strangers. My heart raced from the romance, but it swelled for the platonic relationships centered in the book. Louisa and Mei are incredible best friends. They are each other’s person in friend form. They were there for each other throughout the book. It didn’t matter the circumstance and there were no questions. The reaction was always immediate. Then was Nan and her relationship with everyone. She started as a stranger, but grew into a constant; a backbone not just for Louisa, but for the inn as well. Everyone who stayed at the inn was there, in the right place at the right time.  As much as I love a romance, I also love a found family. #whatimreading #bookreview #septemberreads #tbr
