KIN may have come to an end but we are still in awe of the amazing people, the beautiful souls, open minds, and hearts that filled our space over our four week exhibition at WSA. KIN couldn’t have been what it was without the support, love, and trust of this community. THANK YOU to everyone who showed up to our workshops, supported the performers, engaged with the installations, and those who showed love from afar as well. We're excited to officially announce the Kinfolk Dominoes Set! 🀄️🀄️🀄️ This set is a tribute to the spaces where stories move through laughter, rhythm, and play. Across porches, sidewalks, and kitchen tables, dominoes has long been a ritual of connection in Black, Brown, and Caribbean communities. A tradition where each tile carries both weight and wisdom. This set is crafted to honor that legacy. Every piece is part of a larger story—of migration and music, of aunties who don’t play around, and of younger cousins still learning the ins-and-outs of the game. The slam of a tile, the glance across the table, the silent joy of holding the winning hand, all of it is memory, alive and present. Our domino set invites you into that lineage. Whether you’re in it for the strategy, the smack talk, or the passing of time, this set brings people together through joy, history, and a little bit of competition. On the opening day of the KIN exhibition we sat down with Kinfolk Tech Community Memory Fellow Kleaver Cruz @Kleav @theblackjoyproject to discuss their origins as a writer, how they started The Black Joy Project, and the inspiration behind their fellowship project "Para Lélia" honoring Afro-Brazilian political activist Lélia Gonzalez. In this clip from our interview Kleaver speaks to their discovery of Lélia's work, philosophies, and influence on well-known feminist Angela Davis. We are so grateful for Kleaver's amazing work, thoughtful partnership, and radiant energy.
