I saw another post recently that said “you’re living the dream you had 3 years ago”. Now, anyone who is doing or has done a Ph.D. knows that the trials amd tribulations are endless and maybe even makes you want to quit some days. But wow, that post took me aback. Three years ago now, I was preparing my Ph.D. applications wanting nothing more than what I have now. Shoot, the research is hard, the bills still need to get paid from the already very small stipend, and it feels like all of my “wants” and “needs” are pulling at me from all four limbs. But I then realize that this is a time in my career where I’m pursuing an academic passion project, I’m making the best investment (in myself!), and that everything works out in the end. Here’s to the first two years! Statistically, I am now more likely to get PHinisheD, after all! #womeinstem #engineer #phd #TSTheErasTour

In grad school, it seems that the expectation is that you should work longer days to try and accomplish more work. However, in my own experience, you eventually get diminishing returns on the work you perform. This looks different for everyone, but remember - a tired experiment makes for a repeated experiment. lol I wanted to use the lyrics “We’re happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same time” for my content-relevant Taylor Swift weekly bead video, but that part isn’t in the TikTok version 22 (TV) audio, so here we are! #womeninstem #engineer #phd #TSTheErasTour
