OH, AND IT’S A BABY BOY (I guess this is the gender reveal)! 🐣🩵🍼 IOU more pics from our road trip soon, but first, Kernel’s 10th birthday celebration coming next! Not to be dramatic but watching my old man live like a puppy and fulfill his fetish for all things tiny is my lifeline #BOINK 🛟🐋🥹 #dogsoftiktok #greatdane #dogs #seniordog

Hi everyone! It’s been a busy and wonderful past month or so for Kernel! He’s been feeling strong (dare I say cocky), energized, and ravenous lately, and he’s gained back 8lbs since his GI scare at the end of June. 😅 He also had his best physical to date with cardiology and graduated from semi-annual to annual checkups! Side note: he’s their first dog to accidentally set off a “call 911” siren (with his LORG) during his exam.🤭 At home, we’ve been setting up a sweet nursery that Kernel LOVES. For an intuitive guy, he seems to have absolutely no clue that I’m pregnant and is just under the impression that he’s been gifted a nursery. I’m so happy to see him spending time in there - I know the one thing that will make him love it more is having a baby brother to share it with. I’m so excited for them to meet. Love always, Alyssa 🩵 #greatdane #seniordogs #boston

🔊On July 15, against ALL odds, Kernel G. Dane TURNED 10 YEARS OLD!!! He is the greatest accomplishment of my life! What an endlessly enormous privilege to be his mom and best friend. Kernie, Nini, Lucky Shamrock Bear, Shami, Little Sashi, Sashimi Lee, Leenison SchMOOel, WIDDLE WEE WEE, WENIS, WEENIESCHMOO, I love you until the end of time! 🥲🩵 — A little update on his tummy (yes, the “cake” set him back for a few days lol but he said he’d do it again). All his test results are back and fairly unremarkable, which means the GI issues he’s been facing are something functional, like an ileus or gastroparesis. He also didn’t have much luck with rx motility meds we got from the ER. You may remember Kernel had a fecal transplant last year to detox chronic E. Coli / the heavy antibiotics he was resistant to that nearly offed him. It worked, so we have restarted the fecal transplant regimen. We ARE currently having luck with an acupressure point in his hind legs. I’ve counted 4 times in the last several weeks where he lays down on walks (this means stomach ache and is the main behavior that scared me last month). After I massage the point for a minute or two, he poops right when he gets up and then keeps walking! It’s wild! 😅😂 He’s doing really well otherwise - hiking, keeping up with his school friends, etc. I think that’s all for now. Love, Alyssa #dogs #greatdane #seniordog #boston

🔊THAT DOG HAD THE TIME OF HIS LIFE!!! -random boy on July 4th 🥹🎇💙 It’s almost hard to believe what a better place Kernie has gotten to in the last week! HE WENT BACK TO SCHOOL TODAY! And he kept up with the other dogs for an hour hike/swim without needing a break - GO SCHMOOEY LEE!!!!!!! We’re still waiting on test results to figure out his stomach aches. Other than that, he’s loads better and thinking hard about what kind of cake to bake for his 10th birthday next week! Love, Alyssa #fireworks #july4th #dogs #greatdane

UPDATE: 1. We met MRS. KRNEL! 2. I think the fireworks got “Baby L” all confused, so I tucked her back into bed. 🎆💕 (If you missed part one, Kernel tripped into a hole in our yard that ended up containing five bunnies. One was hysterical, so we checked them over and immediately moved them into a new, safer nest next to the hole. Mrs. Krnel found them shortly after and took over from there!) #wildlife #bunnies #dogs #boston #bekindtoanimals
