6 anti-aging lessons I wish I understood in my 20s‼️👇 6. Lift weights 2–3 times a week. Muscle helps protect your metabolism, bones, balance, and independence as you age. 👉 Focus on squats, hinges and carries. Increase the resistance gradually. 5. Aim for 25–35 grams of protein per meal. Eating most of your protein at dinner is not ideal for maintaining muscle throughout the day. 👉 Choose eggs, Greek yogurt, lentils, tofu, fish, chicken, or cottage cheese. 4. Build toward 30 grams of fiber daily. Fiber supports your microbiome, cholesterol, blood sugar, bowel regularity, and colorectal health. 👉 Increase by about 5 grams per week and drink enough water as your gut adjusts. 3. Build breakfast around protein and fiber. Cereal, juice, or a pastry may leave you hungry again within hours. 👉 Aim for roughly 25-35 grams of protein and 10 grams of fiber. Try Greek yogurt with berries and chia, eggs with vegetables and whole-grain toast, or oats with seeds and nuts. 2. Drink coffee strategically. In large observational studies, moderate coffee consumption is associated with lower all-cause mortality, along with lower risks of chronic liver disease and type 2 diabetes. 👉 Two to three cups can fit into a healthy routine. Keep it as close to black as possible and stop early enough that it does not disrupt your sleep. 1. Add 1–2 tablespoons of chia seeds daily. Two tablespoons provide about 10 grams of fiber, along with plant-based omega-3 fats. 👉 Soak them or mix them into yogurt or oatmeal, increase gradually, and drink enough water. #longevity #antiaging #healthyaging #guthealthtiktok #drsethi

You Don’t Have to Poop Every Day, According to a Gastroenterologist. Here’s What Actually Matters 👇 7. You do NOT have to poop every day to be healthy. Bowel frequency varies widely between people. In general, anywhere from about 3 bowel movements a week to 3 a day can fall within a healthy range. 👉 What matters most is your usual pattern and whether you’re passing stools comfortably. 6. Shape matters as much as frequency. On the Bristol Stool Form Scale, types 3–4 are generally considered ideal, while hard, pellet-like stools can point toward constipation. 👉 Pay attention to consistency, not just how often you go. 5. Constipation affects roughly 1 in 10 adults worldwide. A 2026 global analysis of more than 459,000 people across 44 countries estimated functional constipation in about 9.5% of adults. 👉 Fewer than 3 bowel movements a week, especially with hard stools or straining, is worth paying attention to. 4. Two kiwis a day can actually help constipation. In a randomized controlled trial, 2 green kiwifruits daily increased complete spontaneous bowel movements by about 1.5 per week in people with functional constipation. 👉 Try 2 green kiwis daily for 4 weeks and see how your gut responds. 3. Scrolling on the toilet has a real cost. A 2025 study found that smartphone use on the toilet was associated with a 46% higher risk of hemorrhoids. 👉 Leave your phone outside and avoid lingering on the toilet. 2. Your toilet posture may make pooping easier. A small study found that a squatting position reduced both straining and the time needed to have a bowel movement compared with sitting. 👉 A small footstool can help bring your knees above your hips and mimic a more squat-like position. 1. Symptoms matter more than hitting a daily poop quota. Blood in your stool, persistent changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, or ongoing abdominal pain deserve medical evaluation. 👉 Don’t ignore persistent changes just because you’re still “going.” Comment “POOP” and I’ll DM you my free guide! Share with someone who still thinks everyone needs to poop every day. #toilet #guthealth #guthealthtiktok #drsethi

“You seem to lack focus. You may not become a doctor.” One of my teachers once told me that. Over the years, people often see the milestones - AIIMS, Harvard University, Stanford University, social media, and millions reached. What they don’t see are the moments that shaped the journey. Because success looks straightforward in hindsight. But the path rarely is. Growing up with Tourette’s syndrome. Being told I lacked focus. Facing rejections. Navigating immigration systems and uncertainty. Starting over in new cities. Trying unconventional paths when the easier option would have been to follow the crowd. And posting videos online that almost nobody watched. Looking back, those moments were never the end of the story. They were simply part of the process. If there is one lesson, I’ve learned through it all: In the end, your GRIT will decide your story. #doctor #medical #medicalstudent

The Power of Psyllium Husk (Isabgol) - 7 Things Most People Don't Know ❌👇 7. It can help with constipation AND diarrhea - the same fiber, two opposite problems. Psyllium forms a gel that holds onto water, helping soften hard stools while adding form to loose stools. 👉 It's one of the most versatile fibers for improving stool consistency. 6. It's a secret ingredient in gluten-free baking. Its gel mimics gluten's stretch and structure, which is why bakers use it to make gluten-free bread that doesn't crumble. 👉 A small amount goes a long way, and it adds fiber to every slice. 5. It quietly lowers "bad" cholesterol. A 2025 analysis of 41 randomized trials found psyllium lowered LDL cholesterol by about 8.6 mg/dL on average. 👉 The FDA-authorized heart-health claim is based on 7 g/day of soluble fiber from psyllium husk. 4. Fiber can cut hemorrhoid bleeding roughly in half. A Cochrane review found fiber reduced the risk of persistent hemorrhoid bleeding by about 50%. 👉 If constipation or hard stools contribute to your hemorrhoids, consistent fiber matters - not just during flare-ups. 3. Taken before meals, it can blunt your blood sugar spike. In a trial in people with type 2 diabetes, psyllium reduced the post-meal glucose rise by up to 20%. 👉 Taking psyllium shortly before a meal may help slow carbohydrate absorption. 2. The effect may even carry into your NEXT meal. In the same trial, people who took psyllium before breakfast had a 31% lower glucose rise after lunch - even though they didn't take psyllium at lunch. 👉 This is called the "second-meal effect." 1. Skip the water, and the thing that helps you can hurt you. Psyllium swells rapidly. Without enough fluid, it can become lodged in the throat or esophagus and cause choking or obstruction. 👉 Always take it with at least a full 8-oz glass of water and drink it promptly. #psylliumhusk #isabgol #guthealthtiktok #fiber #drsethi

Most doctors won’t tell you this about bloating. I’ve evaluated 25,000+ patients - here’s what I actually see in clinic: 1. Carbonated drinks You’re literally drinking gas - more distension 2. Helicobacter pylori infection Can live silently for years - inflammation, indigestion, bloating 3. Mislabelled as anxiety Gut-brain axis is real - the gut often drives the symptoms 4. Lactose intolerance Common, underdiagnosed - dairy = bloating, gas 5. Fructan intolerance You blamed gluten - but wheat’s fermentable carbs may be the trigger 6. Celiac disease Often missed - chronic bloating, fatigue, nutrient issues 7. Hypothyroidism Slows gut motility - persistent bloating + constipation Most people treat symptoms. Few look for the cause. Comment BLOAT and I’ll send you my science-backed anti-bloat guide. #bloating #guthealth #learnontiktok #todayilearned #didyouknow
