First up on a series I am very excited to start that I’m calling #TouristTrapTuesday is Lafiette’s Blacksmith Shop. 🏴‍☠️ This is the oldest continually operating bar in America and is rumored to be one of the most haunted bars, too. 👻 BUT is this a bourbon street trap? Not at all. It’s a TRUTH in my book because the drinks are good and the vibes are fun. Dimly lit with candles, this is a standing piece of history which encapsulates the essence of the New Orleans experience perfectly. But above all- they make a damn good (and strong) hurricane made with fresh fruit juices. They are known for their Voodoo Daquri aka the Purple Drink which taste like grape nerds to me, and if sweet drinks that taste like candy are your thing, this if for you. I also love how this building has been preserved throughout time to look like the original structure. Sometimes when I pass, it feels like a Disney world attraction. If you’re visiting the city or if you’re a local- this is a fun place for mortals and spirits alike. 💀 I am so excited to see where this series takes me next.
