The beauty of horizontal directional drilling goes well beyond getting under roads. This creek is home to the native river blackfish. Drilling beneath it allowed us to install a new 315mm water main without digging through the creek bed or disturbing the habitat above. It’s pretty special to have a service that can deliver essential infrastructure while leaving places like this intact. Something we’re proud to do and never take for granted! That slurry coming out is the rock we’re reaming through 👊 As the reamer cuts and enlarges the hole, drilling fluid mixes with the rock cuttings and carries them out of the bore. Bentonite and the right additives help keep those cuttings suspended rather than settling and building up underground. It’s a crucial part of cleaning the hole and making room to pull the pipe through. #directionaldrilling #construction #hdddrilling #pipeline #excavator

The team completing a horizontal directional drilling job at an aged care facility, installing a private communications line through a heap of existing underground services. With interference from the surrounding environment adding to the challenge, utility locating and bore planning were crucial before the first rod went in. Careful planning, controlled drilling and a team that knows their job! Onto the next 👊 #directionaldrilling #construction #hdddrilling #pipeline #excavator
