Happy Father’s Day to the man who has shown me what strength, faith, resilience, and unconditional love truly look like. My Dad has gone through so much, yet he continues to show up every single day with a servant’s heart, taking care of our family without complaint. Through every challenge life has thrown his way, he has remained steadfast, strong, and full of love. Dad, thank you for being the father every daughter deserves. Thank you for your sacrifices, your wisdom, your protection, your prayers, and your unwavering presence. You’ve not only been a father to me, you’ve also stepped in, and lovingly filled the role of grandfather and father figure for my daughter, showing her the same love, support, and guidance you’ve always shown me. Your life is a testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness. I am who I am because of the example you set, and the foundation you laid. This has left me speechless. A pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Somehow, I’m trying to stay strong. My Vietnam veteran. He was also a POW (Prisoner of War). I don’t think people truly realize the lifelong effects that has on a person. But I understand what you went through. Uncle Mikey, you were supposed to be here for me forever. I’m so hurt… so numb. Right now, I’m just existing because I have to be strong for Punch (you loved her so much too). These random outbursts of tears have me feeling so unbalanced. I can hear you now: “Cut out all that crying, girl!” I won’t ever forget you teaching me to drive on the expressway. I looked over, and you were asleep! You trusted me more than I trusted myself. We ended up in Evanston that day, and it’s a memory I’ll laugh about and cherish forever. Thank you for your love, your wisdom, your laughter, and the memories that will live on forever. It was an honor to be your niece, to advocate for you through the very end (battle buddies for life), and to love you through every season. You were so proud of me. I pray that I continue to make you proud. I prayed for a miracle, and although it didn’t come in the way I hoped, I trust God’s plan. My heart is truly shattered, but I’m grateful that you’re no longer suffering. This video is just a small glimpse of the life you lived and the love you gave. You’ll forever be missed, forever be loved, and forever be a part of us. Rest peacefully, Uncle Mikey. Please watch over all of us, especially my Dad. I know how much you loved your big brother, and I know how deeply he loves you. Please stay close to him and give him the strength to keep going after losing his baby brother.
