This is your story, bub. And now the whole world is seeing it. You didn’t just make an impact on us you’re touching people far beyond our crew, far beyond Indiana or Kentucky, far beyond anything we ever imagined. Linemen everywhere finally get a break from the outages, because we know that smile is keeeping the world lit. If this message, this story, saves even one life… or makes somebody hug and kiss their loved ones a little tighter before they walk out the door in the morning, then your legacy is already bigger than you ever knew. We appreciate the laughs, the jokes, the memories, and the way you helped us show the world what brotherhood really looks like. Watch over us, protect us, and guide us. God needed you . He had a purpose for you greater than what we could see down here. And don’t you worry about a thing… we’ll protect your family and stand with them through whatever, whenever, for as long as we breathe. Save us a spot up there, bub ……..and put them cold Busch Lights on ice for when we see you again Please donate here: https://helpahero.com/campaign/ support-the-family-of-kyle-ferree Share this post, leave messages of support, and help the IBEW family rally around Kyle's wife and kids during this devastating time. *For ease a QR Code has been created to donate to the HELPAHERO Fund as well. #kyleferree #lineman #linelife #linewives #fallenlineman
Yesterday changed us. We lost a brother. Not just a coworker, not just somebody we stood next to on a pole or shared a truck with… we lost a friend, a son, a husband, a father. A good man. The kind of man you don’t replace. Over 70 pairs of work boots lined the hallway of that hospital. Seventy grown men who are used to being tough, standing there with tears rolling down their faces. And none of us could do a thing. What broke me most was seeing his wife and kids walk out of that room… holding a clear plastic bag with his boots and his phone in it. A phone that kept ringing. A call no one could answer anymore. I’ll never forget that. I pray none of us ever have to witness something like that again. He leaves behind two little babies… and another one on the way. A young family that just built a house they were supposed to fill with memories, laughter, and life. Now she has to walk into that home without him. I can’t even begin to imagine that type of pain. We are asking for prayers. Real prayers. His family needs It. And if you’re able, we are taking up donations to help take some of the weight off this family’s shoulders as we go into the holidays and beyond. Even a single dollar matters. Anything helps. I will make sure gets to the family immediately. Thank you for loving him. Thank you for caring. Hold the ones you love a little tighter tonight. I want to take a moment and say thank you. Thank you to every single person who has reached out, donated, prayed, checked in, or even just took a second to think about this family during the worst week of our lives. The support has come from all across the country, from people who didn’t even know his name… but felt the weight of this loss anyway. That means more than I can explain. We lost a good man. A really good man. A husband, a son, a brother… and the best daddy to two little girls with another baby on the way. And they’re going to need every bit of love, prayer, and support we can give them moving forward. I also want to thank KU and all the contractors who stepped up without hesitation to cover our work, to give us the time to grieve, to go home and hold our own families tighter. That meant the world. We’re not just crews out there — we’re a family. To everyone reading this, I need you to hear this part: In this line of work, tomorrow is never promised. Electricity does not care how tough you are. It does not care how many years you’ve been doing this. It does not care if you’re the best man on the crew. We are always one slip, one arc, one wrong step away from not coming home. People get upset about their lights being out or their bill being too high… but they don’t see what it takes to make sure their world stays lit. They don’t know that while they’re warm in bed, there’s a man 40 feet in the air in the freezing rain, fighting the storm so someone else can have heat for their kids. They don’t know how close that man is to death every single time he straps on those hooks. So if you take anything from this, please— Hold your loved ones tighter. Kiss them every single morning. Tell them you love them every time they walk out that door. Because one day it might be the last time. There’s a wife and two little girls right now who are going to spend the rest of their lives looking down that long gravel driveway… wishing they could see his truck coming home one more time. Keep praying for them. Keep checking in. Keep sharing. Keep loving them through this. We will make sure they never walk this road alone.
