Replying to @Elizabeth They call us liars. They tell us to shut up. They mock our trauma, question our stories, and try to shame us back into silence. And yet, we keep speaking. 💜 When I released 757 and Jane Doe as Zero2Kay, I wanted survivors to know they weren’t alone. I wanted to give a voice to the stories so many have been forced to bury. What I didn’t expect was watching other women take those songs and turn them into something bigger than me. A safe space. A battle cry. A movement. And to the people flooding survivors’ videos with hate: You’re proving exactly why these songs needed to be written. You don’t get to decide whose trauma is valid. You don’t get to silence someone simply because their truth makes you uncomfortable. To every survivor using my music to tell their story: I see you. I hear you. I stand with you. We need to start recognizing how the language we use every day reinforces the very inequalities we’re fighting to change. Why are grown men referred to as MEN, while grown women are still called GIRLS? One implies authority, maturity, and respect. The other can subtly diminish those same qualities. Language matters. Words shape perception. Perception shapes behavior. And behavior shapes society. We cannot demand equality while continuing to normalize language that places women beneath men. Oh, so we’re bringing back public executions now? 👀 Funny how quickly people start entertaining medieval punishments when they’re angry enough.
