In 1916 Harrods sold giftpacks that contained cocaine, heroin and needles to send to boys at the front during World War 1. Cocaine and heroin were legal in the UK until the mid-60’s. The Harrods pet department sold an alligator to Noel Coward, and an elephant was gifted to Ronald Reagan when he was governor of California in the 1970’s. After buying the lion “Christian” in 1969, he was brought to Kenya by his owners. #shopping #harrods #lion #london #unusualgifts #shoppingtips

It was wonderful to speak to Vogue Philippines about art psychotherapy because this course transformed my life, teaching me how to see, observe and listen. I bring this perspective to my work as a walking tour guide helping people really see the city and connect to the sublime and peculiar and not just be dazzled by the most glaringly obvious and superficial parts. I also particularly love taking people to visit art museums and our exhibitions and getting a deeper insight the artworks. It was also wonderful to share some of my artwork and I encourage everyone to make art because if Brad Pitt can have an art exhibition, so can you! It is also a privilege to work as an art psychotherapist in schools, and help young people to thrive. London is a very lucky because many museums are free and there are so many diverse shows and exhibitions and cultural events that explore diverse forms of storytelling which contributes to the richness of the capital. See Vogue Philippines website for the full story. ##artpsychotherapy##voguephilippines##art##clay##drawing

Americans fight for the freedom to bear arms, but the French? They want the freedom to bare it all. 🇫🇷🇺🇸 At their core, both cultures are obsessed with radical freedom, we just disagree on the morality. While America channels its liberty into constitutional rights, France channels its Enlightenment heritage into bodily autonomy and natural living. Take Benjamin Franklin, the ultimate American founding father, who was obsessed with "air baths." He famously sat naked in his London or Philadelphia rooms for hours every morning, writing and reading because he genuinely believed exposing the skin to fresh air was the ultimate cure for illness. Meanwhile, British visionary William Blake and his wife Catherine famously sat naked in their Hercules Buildings garden reading Milton sometimes acting out Adam and Eve in paradise. Where did they get this? They were all deeply immersed in the philosophy of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who popularized the idea that civilization corrupts humanity and that returning to nature, simplicity, and the physical body is the key to moral and physical purity. Rousseau’s "back to nature" ethos bridged the gap between American individualism and French bodily freedom. So, is naked health the ultimate form of liberty? #history #freedom #london #philosophy #health
