What’s that? Kuzko has been navigating his car around the barriers — all the way to the goal cone — without using any checkpoint cones or treats? Way to go Kuzko! 🥳 Take a look! Something we love about this specific clip is how it shows Kuzko’s always improving ability to adjust and correct his positioning. We have noticed that Kuzko is no longer so worried about perfecting his positioning before accelerating, but is instead willing to move forward and then adjust his direction as he finds he needs to. Here we can observe multiple examples of his improved approach to correcting challenging mistakes like overturning and even getting the car stuck in a corner. Kuzko perseveres through these all the way to the end, not even needing an intermediary treat to motivate him to keep trying! Since we train our rats to give them intellectual stimulation, perfection isn’t the ultimate goal; rather, seeing Kuzko autonomously problem-solve his way out of these various situations and challenges without giving up is incredibly satisfying and exciting for us. Kronk is also improving and we look forward to showing you his progress soon! Furthermore, next up on the driving front is a new and improved course which we are excited to share. Before that though will be a couple more posts about the non-driving enrichment and fun we have with Kronk and Kuzko. 😊 ⭐️ New to our account? Welcome! We give our two bonded rescue rats, Kuzko and Kronk, 10-minute driving lessons once a day as a mental enrichment activity. They choose when to enter and exit the vehicle and take breaks as needed. Kuzko and Kronk also enjoy a variety of other enrichment during their free roam time — follow or check out our previous posts for more! ⭐️

Double, double, toil and trouble! 👻🎃🐀 We were honoured to receive the October Ratty Box this month in exchange for sharing our boys’ reactions! Thank you so much @Ratty Box for preparing such a fun and spooky set of toys, hides, and treats that can be enjoyed by rats around the world. We really appreciate what The Ratty Box is doing in the space of curating products specifically with rats in mind — not many companies are! These are an adorable assortment of items that offer rats fresh ways to express some of their natural behaviours like chewing, snacking, hiding, and climbing. If their first reactions are any indication, we are sure that our boys will greatly enjoy this box. Especially the witch’s hat! 🧙‍♀️🤭 #rescuerats #rats #ratsoftiktok #ratstatok #adoptdontshop

How do you teach a rat to drive? 🐀🚖 Follow along to find out, because the girls just got their learner’s permits! After Phoebe and Spark bonded with Kuzko, got settled in our family, and became comfortable with their free roam space, it was time to introduce some fresh enrichment! Solving puzzle boxes, training tricks — the girls took to it all quickly. Therefore the time arrived to see if they were interested in learning how to drive the custom car their grandfather first built for Kronk and Kuzko back in the fall of 2023 (inspired by the University of Richmond’s ROVs). Their Rat Rod operates on a 3-pedal system: the middle pedal accelerates the car forward, the left pedal turns it left, and the right pedal turns it right. A porthole in the windshield allows the rat to grab a treat when they drive up to it. This video shows Phoebe’s first few lessons. To start, we rewarded Phoebe with tasty treats (baby rice puffs) for investigating and hopping into the car. Once she was comfortable, it was time to teach her how to use the accelerator. Watch on to see how she learned to hit the gas! Coming up in future videos: how she learned to turn, Spark’s early lessons, Kuzko’s updates (he has been working on building his endurance for big laps around our living room — Formula 1 here he comes! 🏎️), and some non-driving related free-roam fun! ⭐️ New to our account?
