Someone mentioned to me that songwriters are just trying to get by, and I get that. But, some veterans are also just trying to get by and some are barely holding on because of the things they carry with them. So when you commercialize their pain, is that really an honest way to make a living? If the veteran wants to, that’s fine but if it isn't your story then how is it your place to do so? "BATTLES YOU NEVER KNEW" drops 9/11.

The song starts out and describes a typical concert sequence you might see: an artist on stage, flags waving on the stage screens, and patriotic speech coming across speakers. They might even have a couple of veterans on stage to further the mood. But all-too-often, it’s not real. It’s art… if you wanna call it that. It is a show at veterans expense, its not honoring them. They claim to know our pain and sacrifice but how can they really? I want people to understand that. "BATTLES YOU NEVER KNEW" drops 9/11.

The day is finally here. "BATTLES YOU NEVER KNEW" is out today on all streaming platforms, including a lyric video. I can appreciate someone that has respect and admiration for our service members. But country music is about authenticity. When songs about their experience and sacrifice start to become a trend, it’s no longer genuine, it’s someone profiting off their sacrifice and experiences. When songs are written because they know patriotism sells, that isn’t a thank you for your service. When someone writes a song about our sacrifice and they know nothing about it, how is that authentic? This song is for those that this applies to. We know who you are; all veterans know who you are.
