MY CHILD IS STILL TOO YOUNG TO PLAN FOR THE FUTURE. This is the biggest mistake Special Needs parents make. I hear it all the time: She is only 4, I have time. He is only 10, we will plan later. An emergency does NOT care how old your child is. If something happens to you TODAY, who will know: - How your child communicates when they can't express well? - What triggers a meltdown and what actually calms them? - What foods they will and will NOT eat? - That they need to stay busy, need routine, need their home? - Who are the 3 people who REALLY know and love them? If it's not written down, strangers will decide. IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO PLAN. IF YOUR CHILD HAS A DIAGNOSIS, YOU NEED 2 DOCUMENTS NOW: 1. LETTER OF INTENT - Your Child's Life Manual. This is NOT a legal document. It's YOUR voice when you can't speak. Every parent needs to write down: - Daily routine (what makes them happy and what upsets them) - Communication: how they communicate, how to give them time - Medical: allergies, medications, doctors, therapies - Likes/Dislikes: food, sensory needs, calming strategies - Your WISH: Where do you want them to live? With a roommate? In their home? With family? - Their Circle: Names and phone numbers of friends, family, therapists who know them best Keep one copy on your fridge, one in their backpack, one with your Will. 2. SNT - SPECIAL NEEDS TRUST - Their Money Protection Please listen carefully: If you leave money directly to your Special Needs child — from your Will, life insurance, or your house — they will LOSE their SSI, Medicaid, and housing benefits. Even $10,000 can disqualify them. A Special Needs Trust (SNT) fixes this. - It holds money FOR your child, but not IN their name - They KEEP their SSI, Medicaid, and ABLE Account - The money can pay for what government benefits don't: a roommate, a support administrator, gym, swimming, music classes, quality of life You can fund it with a small life insurance policy. Many parents do it for $20-$30 a month. Don't plan because you are afraid to die. Plan because you love them enough to protect them even when you are not here. START THIS WEEK - DO THESE 3 THINGS: 1.Write a 1-page Emergency Plan tonight: 2 Allergies, routine, 9 3 emergency contacts. Put it on the fridge. 2.Comment the word "PLAN" below and if anyone need I will send you a FREE Letter of Intent template + SNT checklist. 3.Find "Special Needs Trust Attorney near you" and book ONE free consultation. If you need lawyers, message me. Whether your child is 3, 13, or 23 — the right time to plan is TODAY. Because love without a plan is just a wish. Share this with a parent who needs to read it today. On a personal note: I LOVE A PLAN. I can't have peace of mind without a plan. A plan made me achieve so many things. That's why I plan for my son's future too. "I LOVE A PLAN. I CAN'T HAVE PEACE OF MIND WITHOUT A PLAN."

Swimming is one of the BEST sports and BEST life skills. And it's a LIFE-SAVING skill. A lot of our kids are at risk of drowning. Please teach your child early. Through repetition and routine, they can become the BEST swimmers. That is our experience. Swimming does not just move their muscles — it moves their right and left brain. In the water, they learn: Coordination Safety Confidence Put your child in swimming. It's not just a sport. It's safety. It's therapy. It's pride. Your child CAN.

NON-VERBAL DOES NOT MEAN SEVERE. A big mistake in the autism community: If a child is non-verbal, they must have "severe" autism. I see it differently. Remember basic school science? Human biology — our 5 senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste, Smell. The human brain is amazing and adaptive. When one pathway — like spoken language — is hard, the other senses step up. They become SUPER-SENSES to help the child understand the world. Just because a child isn't speaking doesn't mean they aren't communicating. They ARE — just differently. Here is what SUPER-SENSES look like: 1. VISUAL - They See Everything Remembers exactly where a tiny toy was left 3 days ago Solves puzzles instantly Lines up objects in perfect patterns How they communicate: Deep eye contact, leading you by the hand, pointing, using pictures 2. TOUCH - They Feel Everything Loves deep pressure, weighted blankets, water Feels safe with hugs, unsafe with light touch How they communicate: Hugging you, touching your face, pulling away when overwhelmed This is why SWIMMING is so powerful! 3. HEARING - They Hear Everything Remembers a full song after hearing it once Covers ears when the world is too loud Calms with specific music or water sounds How they communicate: Humming, echoing, responding to your TONE not your words 4. TASTE & SMELL - They Sense Everything Smells food from another room Knows food by texture How they communicate: Accepting or refusing THAT is communication PARENTS, LET'S CHANGE THE QUESTION: Stop asking: _"Why isn't my child speaking?" Start asking: _"HOW is my child speaking to me?" - With his eyes? - With his hands? - With his behavior? - With his super-memory? Non-verbal does NOT mean non-intelligent. Non-verbal does NOT mean less able. Non-verbal means: He speaks a different language. Our job is not to judge his abilities. Our job is to LEARN his language. my plan is to understand my son's super-senses FIRST. What is YOUR child's super-sense? Comment below — let's learn from each other.
