Ceremony Held in Pyongyang to Welcome Xi Jinping on State Visit to DPRK On June 8, a grand welcoming ceremony was held at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang for Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of the PRC, who is paying a state visit to the DPRK. Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK and President of State Affairs of the DPRK, together with Ri Sol Ju, warmly welcomed Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan. Senior Party, government and military officials of both countries attended the ceremony, while Pyongyang citizens, youth, students and children greeted the guests with flags and flowers. Following the playing of the national anthems of China and the DPRK and a 21-gun salute, Xi Jinping reviewed the KPA guard of honor and watched a march-past. After the ceremony, Xi Jinping expressed sincere thanks for the warm hospitality extended by the Korean Party, government and people. The two leaders waved to the cheering crowd before Xi Jinping proceeded to the Kumsusan State Guesthouse, accompanied by Kim Jong Un. The event highlighted the traditional DPRK-China friendship and demonstrated the determination of the top leaders of the two countries to further strengthen and develop bilateral relations in the new era.
