🏍️ CE ratings explained: what are you actually paying for? A leather jacket isn’t automatically more protective, a textile jacket isn’t automatically less protective, and two pieces of AAA-rated gear won’t necessarily perform identically. In this video, I break down motorcycle clothing’s CE protection classes — C, B, A, AA and AAA — what they mean, and how abrasion resistance fits into the bigger picture. I also compare a few examples, including the CE AAA @Knox Shield hoodie vs a CE AAA REV’IT! Xena 4 leather jacket, and two very different-looking jackets with very different ratings 👀 💡 The takeaway? Certification is a great starting point, but it isn’t the whole story. Construction, materials, impact protection, fit and coverage all matter, too. Different brands have different budgets, testing strategies and product goals. Some may choose to certify to a lower class to meet a particular price point or product brief — but we shouldn’t assume why a product has a particular rating without knowing the details. Do your research, check the labels, compare the actual specifications, and buy gear that suits your needs — not just what looks the most protective. Because graceingear is all about riding smart, feeling good, and making informed decisions🖤 Disclaimer: This is general educational content, not a substitute for checking the applicable standards, manufacturer specifications and independent product testing. Always do your own research. less breakouts, less irritated, less hair breakage AND no more sunburnt neck — I’m a year in and I think I’ve found my forever bally @RIDER SZN 🖤 I genuinely don’t think people talk enough about how uncomfortable riding with long hair can be, especially in an Australian summer. When it’s 30°C+, having your hair sitting against the back of your neck under all your gear is a special kind of gross. It gets hot, sweaty and sticky, my skin gets irritated, I’M IRRITATED and the combination of helmet friction and constantly stuffing my hair into my gear can leave me dealing with breakage, too — this has genuinely become a permanent fixture in my riding kit that I refuse to ride without now 🙋🏻‍♀️ It’s one of those little things I didn’t realise would make such a big difference until I started using it consistently. It’s not just about keeping my hair out of the way — it’s about making riding more comfortable, especially when the Queensland heat is doing its absolute worst🫠 I’ve had mine for over a year, and I genuinely love it, so if you have long hair and ride in summer, consider this your sign to look into a bally with a proper hair cut-out!!
