Councilmember Jessie Lopez raised concerns about the Flock and Motorola contracts over a year ago when the City Council Majority voted to approve both contracts. Santa Ana Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) data has been shared with federal government agencies. This is a violation of state law. Councilmember Jessie Lopez warned the Council this would happen but Mayor Valerie Amezcua and Councilmembers David Penaloza, Phil Bacerra, and Thai Viet Phan looked the other way and approved the contracts anyway. ALPR cameras are tracking our every move. Where we worship. Where we drop our kids off at school. Where we shop. Where we work.
