A survivor from the 1940s. ⌚️🇺🇸 Founded in New York in 1921 by the three Lazrus brothers, Benrus became one of the best-known American watch names of the 20th century. By the 1940s, its watches reflected a changing era, blending the elegant geometric styling of the Art Deco period with increasingly practical, durable designs. This vintage Benrus captures that transition beautifully, with its sculpted tonneau case, unusual ribbed lugs, stylized Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and proudly marked “SHOCKPROOF” dial. Benrus would go on to become particularly well known for rugged watches and later supplied timepieces to the U.S. military, but pieces like this show the dressier side of the company’s history. More than 80 years later, it’s still ticking history you can wear. ✏️ Reimagined in pencil against a 1940s-inspired setting. #Benrus #BenrusWatch #VintageBenrus #VintageWatch #1940s

Art Deco for the wrist. ⌚️✨ This vintage Helbros tank watch is a beautiful survivor of the 1930s Art Deco era, when watchmakers were turning wristwatches into miniature pieces of architecture. Helbros was founded in the early 20th century by the Helbein brothers and became known in the American market for Swiss-made watches offered in fashionable designs. This example captures the period wonderfully, with its elongated rectangular case, dramatic stepped geometric lugs, two-tone dial, stylized Arabic numerals and traditional small-seconds display. Inside is a Helbros caliber 38 mechanical movement, a tiny hand-wound machine from an era when winding your watch each morning was simply part of getting dressed. The styling reflects the same fascination with geometry, symmetry and streamlined forms that shaped the skyscrapers, furniture and automobiles of the 1930s. Nearly 90 years later, it still looks like a tiny Art Deco building strapped to your wrist. ✏️ Reimagined in pencil in a 1930s-inspired setting. #Helbros #HelbrosWatch #ArtDeco #ArtDecoWatch #1930s
